This was a page turner!!!The author was very detailed which created a visual sense of looking at his life through a glass wall. I gave it 4 stars because one he was couragous enough to tell his story, two he did a very good job at captivating you and pulling you in, three his characters were very developed which made it easier to understand them and to root or sympathize/empathize them and lastly, I couldn't put it down; I read the book in 3 days and promptly gave it to a friend to read.
I found that once I got towards the end I wanted more detail on the family itself, how did things end up with some of the characters, consequences etc. However, I understood the ending.

It had me crying and laughing all at the same time. I kept thinking to myself how god has made Karl so strong throughout the book. This book will really touch your heart, and show you that life is not always what it seems to be. But you can overcome obstacles in life.

This book is a page-turner from beginning to end. It's good, it's sad, it's funny, it's juicy, but most of all it's a story about beating the odds and turning sour lemons into sweet lemonade. You'll laugh, you'll cry, but one thing for sure, you won't put the book down until you reach the end. I can't wait for the movie!!
Karl Allen Griggs wants the readers to know that in life, most individuals spend their whole lives staring in the mirror and never see themselves. The reason for that is they only putting the focus about what they are trying to cover up. He mentioned further that when you look in that mirror, you only see where you are standing and what is behind you. Your life, your future, and your happiness is on the other side of that mirror. Sometimes we have to allow to give ourselves permission to break that mirrors that causing obstacles in our lives. It is time for us to stop wasting our time looking in that mirror of the past and start shattering the reflections of ourselves that put us in a place of insecurity threatening to break our spirit. We need to shatter any mirrors that aren't healthy for our mind and health. Before I got sick with depression, I allow myself to look at that mirror of other people judgment about me. After I left the hospital I decided to shatter those mirrors in my circle that was blocking me from living a healthy and positive lifestyles. I now know that the people in our lives that always putting judgment against us, in disguise they are busy trying to clean somebody else house while their own house is still dirty. They also will not help you but busy criticizing you. Once I finished reading this book I was curious about more detail on his family member and the consequences of some of the characters in this book. I did understood the ending in my own images of this story. I want to personally thank Karl Griggs for sharing his story with us and much continued success on his life journey. I recommend everyone to read this book if you want to shatter your own mirror that is holding you back.

We all read the synopsis of a book before we actually turn to the first page, even after reviewing it, I was not prepared for what I was about to read. Shattered Mirrors Broken in Plain Sight took me on a complete emotional roller coaster, right from the beginning of the book it captures your attention! There were times in the book I was so angry, I felt the pain, I felt my own family members pain, it was so easy to put myself in the shoes of this writer. There were times where I laughed, past moments that I almost forgot about with my own grandmother, but was quickly reminded as I turned the pages. There is so much anyone, men and woman, especially teens of today, can learn from the writer of this book, not only from his words but the words and knowledge from each of his grandparents. The fact that the writer is from the Detroit area made me even more curious, it was great to read about the city when it was known for bigger and better things, it was easy to mentally go back to those times, to be able to relate and remember some of the very places mentioned in the story. When I first started reading the book, I told myself I would knock out two chapters a day, within 24 hours I had completed the book, I was so eager to find out what was going to happen next I could not put it down. I would love to know what happens in the next chapter of the writer's life! Definitely worth the read.
